William Roy Brashear, a respected and devoted family man, passed away on May 23, 2026, in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Born on August 11, 1930, in Bullitt County, Kentucky, William lived a life marked by dedication, both in his professional endeavors and within his cherished family.
His career was defined by his many years of service at the old Seagram Distillery, from which he retired with pride and satisfaction. William’s commitment to his work was a reflection of his steadfast character and strong work ethic, qualities that he carried into all aspects of his life.
William was a beloved husband for 53 years to the late Wanda L. Brashear, whose memory he honored deeply following her passing. Together, they built a family rooted in love and mutual respect—a legacy that William continued to nurture throughout his life.
He is survived by his children: Bill Brashear, Lisa Shelton (Delbert), Kerby Brashear, Eva Crawford (Ari), and Scooter Brashear. His family further extends to nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom held him in great esteem and affection. Although he mourned the loss of two dear grandchildren, Stephanie Wiedemer Gilland and Austin Horstman, William’s enduring love for his family remained a guiding force.
William Roy Brashear’s life was a testament to steadfast devotion, both in his career and his family bonds. His memory will be cherished by those who knew him and loved him, standing as a beacon of the values he held dear throughout his 95 years.
His funeral will be 12:00 p.m. Friday May 29, 2026 at Maraman-Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville with burial to follow in Vine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. Friday prior to the service.
