Louisville

Tamila Jean Davis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on August 17, 2025, at Norton Women's & Children's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 9, 1959, in Oldham County, Kentucky, Tamila dedicated her life to hard work, having spent many years in physical labor as a warehouse worker at various locations before retiring.

Tamila was known for her selfless and caring nature. Her door was always open, and she had a remarkable ability to provide love and a place to call home to children who were not biologically hers, but whom she cherished as her own. She was a true romantic, who delighted in dancing with her husband, Ricky Davis, Sr., with whom she shared more than 48 years of marriage. Tamila enjoyed binge-watching soap operas and Hallmark movies, showcasing her tender heart and warmth.

A gifted writer, she poured her emotions into poetry and short stories, capturing the depth of her experiences and feelings through her expressive words. Though her sweetness was evident, those close to her remembered her fiery spirit as well. Tamila was not one to tolerate nonsense, earning her due respect as the boss of her household.

Tamila had a passion for the beauty of nature, particularly her love for pink roses and the joy of watching birds, especially cardinals and hummingbirds. Her personality exemplified a combination of caring and strength, reflected in the loving legacy she leaves behind.

Tamila is survived by her devoted husband, Ricky Davis, Sr.; children Shannon Sego (Michael), Ricky Davis, Jr. (Beth), Trisha Davis, and James Joyce; siblings Kathy Hoke (Bobby) and Robert Purvis, Jr. (Jackie); as well as numerous grandchildren including Cynthia Lague, Mikey Sego, William Davis, Jasmine Morris, Sadie Peters, Astrid Davis, Loki Davis, and Ronnie Sego. She also leaves behind her great-grandchild, Adi Lague, along with nieces and nephews Michael McCue (Tonia), Chris McCue (Shana), Robert Hoke (Cassie), Jeremy Hoke, Michael Quintana, and Cheryl Nelson-Day (Jerry), along with extended family and friends.

Tamila was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine Dupin and Robert Purvis, and her sister Cindy McCue, as well as her grandson Jeremy Sego.

Her life will be honored with visitation on August 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 3:00 PM. Both services will take place at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, located at 605 South Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY.
