Robert "Bob" Lee Denkhoff Sr.

Robert "Bob" Lee Denkhoff Sr. passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, at the age of 94. Born on January 27, 1932, in Louisville, Kentucky, Bob's life was marked by steadfast devotion to his family and a quiet strength that touched those who knew him.

Bob was the beloved son of the late Walter and Nettie Denkhoff. Family was always at the center of Bob’s life; a dedication reflected in the bonds he nurtured and the legacy he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Dolly Denkhoff, whose partnership and love he treasured throughout their years together. Bob also endured the heartbreak of losing his children Colleen Lopp, Terri Wise, Robert Denkhoff Jr., Bentley Moore, and Dean Moore; his brother Jack Denkhoff; grandchildren Kari Nalley and Robert Howard, and his great grandchild Wyatt Parsley; whose memory he held close to his heart.

He is survived by a loving family who honor him deeply: his daughters Debra Roth, Tracy Kraus (Ron), and Shonna Cook (Mike); his son Roger Denkhoff; his devoted sister Linda Durbin (Jerry); son-in-law Mooch Wise; and sister-in-law Sue Denkhoff. Robert also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. His greatest joy was raising his granddaughter, Jeni Lavon, as though she were his daughter. The bonds Bob formed with his family members are a testament to his character, and their memories of him will live on as a source of strength and comfort.

Robert lived life with enthusiasm, a generous heart, and a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A horse owner with a passion for horse racing, he especially loved spending time at Churchill Downs, where he enjoyed the excitement and tradition of the sport. A skilled home builder, Robert took pride in creating places for families to call home. Known as a lifelong prankster, he could always bring a smile to those around him and truly never met a stranger. He appreciated life's simple pleasures, including an ice-cold beer, and wasn't afraid to test his luck as an avid gambler. Though he took pride in his appearance, it was his generosity and willingness to help others that defined him most.

The visitation for Robert "Bob" Lee Denkhoff Sr. will be held at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, 605 Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY 40165, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at the same location on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Mike Cook. Interment will take place at Skipworth Cemetery, 2095 Rosewood Rd, Greenville, KY 42345, with the burial service beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Bob’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His unwavering presence, gentle wisdom, and quiet love will remain an inspiration to his family and friends. Those who gathered around him in life will continue to celebrate him in heart and spirit, remembering his lasting impact and deeply rooted devotion.

He will be missed, but his legacy endures in the grateful memories of those he loved and who loved him in return.
