Norman Cecil Bierod, 88 passed away Sunday January 28, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
Norman was a Christian by faith. In his younger years, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Okolona Fire Department. He retired after more than 38 years from Ford Motor Company. His actions were a true reflection of his character, Norman was selfless, dedicated, and outgoing. He made friends everywhere he visited, he was fun spirited and young at heart, he never placed a limit on himself nor his ability. Norman lovingly bestowed his family members with unique nicknames. He had a fondness for all animals, especially his loyal dog Duke. His favorite drink was Big Red, an ice-cold Big Red on a hot day, really hit the spot. Norman had an affinity for the classic Packard luxury automobile, and was a rail enthusiast, captivated with trains and rail travel. Norman was passionate about bluegrass music, he spent hours tuning and strumming his dobro.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Francis Bierod.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of more than 68 years, Zella Bierod; his children Arnold Bierod of Shepherdsville, Paul Bierod (Janice) of Springfield, TN, Lisa Forbes (Duane) and Gary Bierod both of Shepherdsville; his siblings David Brady (Hilda) of Fayetteville, NC, Nancy Coyle of Corsicana, TX, and Charles Stewart (Liz) of Eden, NC.; his grandchildren Bryan Bierod (Jennifer Keith), Travis Bierod, Christina Logsdon (Daniel), Jessica Waters, Jackie O’Bryan, Michael Bierod, Derek & Alyssa Forbes, and Cheyenne Bierod; numerous great-grandchildren, additional family and friends. The family would like to acknowledge his niece Kathy Madison for her unwavering support.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Ridner officiating. Burial to follow Poplar Spring Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 1-8, Tuesday 11-8, and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. till time of service.
