Michael Jason Malone, of Shepherdsville passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026. Born on December 1, 1969, Michael lived a life marked by dedication, enthusiasm, and a deep love for those around him.
A graduate of Bullitt Central High School, Michael's commitment extended beyond the classroom into his professional and personal pursuits. He was the former owner of Charlie's Pizza, where his entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly, and he also contributed his skills and work ethic as an employee with Auto Zone. Michael's passions were equally vibrant, as he deeply loved sports, the thrill of riding motorcycles, and proudly supported the Tennessee Volunteers. He was a member of Lone Hill United Baptist Church.
Michael's life was richly surrounded by family, who remember him fondly and carry his legacy forward. He is survived by his loving mother, Judy Mattingly, and his sons, Jason Malone and Patrick Malone, the latter accompanied by his wife, Lillian. Michael was also a beloved brother to Scott Starkey (LeeAnn), Mark Malone (Missy), Mike Mattingly, Brian Mattingly, Tracy Mattingly (Susan), Michael Upton (Leslie), Moses Malone (Carrie), and his sister Kathy Malone. His family circle includes a caring step-mother, Patricia Malone, and dear grandchildren, Sawyer, Sutton, and Serena Malone. Michael's wider family network comprises numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom hold him in warm remembrance.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Malone; step-father, Joseph Leon Mattingly; and sister, Lisa Zehnder, whose memories he honored throughout his life.
Michael Jason Malone’s presence was a profound blessing to all who knew him. His passion for life, unwavering support to family, and the joy he found in his interests touched many hearts. As the community and loved ones gather to celebrate his life, they remember him with respect and gratitude for the remarkable person he was. His spirit will undoubtedly continue to inspire those privileged to have shared in his journey.
His funeral will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday April 28, 2026 at Maraman-Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville, Kentucky with burial to follow in Lone Hill United Baptist Church Cemetery, 5410 Mt. Washington Road. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
