Martha Mangino Cruise, beloved mother, nonnie, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born on July 31, 1957, Martha’s life was defined by her devotion to family, the warmth of her friendship, and her unwavering strength of character.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, DCNN and Candy for Caring. She loved cheering on the Louisville Cardinals, taking her grandkids to Lakeside and drinking Pepsi.
She was the best Nonnie whose life revolved around her grandchildren.
Martha’s journey began in Louisville, where she grew up surrounded by her loving siblings: her sister Theresa Settle (Tony), and brothers John (Rose), Mario, Paul (Annie), and Joseph Mangino. She cultivated deep family bonds that would remain central throughout her life.
She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Joseph Ryan Cruise, whose memory she honored daily. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter. Their legacy will endure through their children and grandchildren.
Martha is survived by her daughters, Katharine Cruise (Nick Staggs) and Joanna Reider (Mitch), who carry forward her compassion and wisdom. She took immense pride in her role as a Nonnie to Katch Cruise, Grant Staggs, Dominick Staggs, Stella Staggs, Rocco Reider, and Maria Reider. She cherished every precious moment spent with them.
Her extended family includes her dearly supportive sisters-in-law, Theresa Cruise, Sedonia Williams, Mary Ann Phillips, and Cindy Cruise. Their companionship remained a source of comfort and strength for Martha over the years.
In her professional life, Martha demonstrated integrity and commitment, retiring from PNC Bank where she created lasting friendships and touched the lives of many colleagues. Her tenure there is remembered for her dedication and kind spirit.
Martha’s impact extended far beyond her immediate family and professional circle. Her kindness, sense of humor, and resolve left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Family gatherings, holiday celebrations, beach vacations, and time at home were filled with her laughter and open heartedness.
To honor Martha’s memory, visitation will be held on Saturday July 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, 605 Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY. A memorial service will follow at the same location from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. All who knew Martha are invited to join in remembering and celebrating her remarkable life.
While she is deeply missed, Martha Mangino Cruise’s love and spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her family and friends remain grateful for her guidance, strength, and generous heart, treasuring the memories shared and upholding the legacy she leaves behind.
