Mark Alan Olson, a devoted family man and dedicated employee at the Ford Motor Fern Valley Plant, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Born on April 29, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mark’s life was marked by hard work, commitment, and a deep love for those closest to him.
Mark’s career at the Ford Motor Company at the Fern Valley Plant reflected his steadfast dedication and reliable work ethic, hallmarks that defined much of his life. His contributions to the plant and his colleagues spoke to his integrity and the respect he garnered over the years.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mark’s greatest joy came from his family. He was a loving husband of 18 years to Cindy Olson, who stood by his side through life’s many chapters. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual support. Mark was also a proud father to Sheila Torkelson, Brandon Olson, Derek Olson (and his wife Ashley), and Ryan Torkelson. His role as a grandparent brought him great happiness, especially through moments shared with his grandchildren Donovan, Neveah, and Wyatt. Additionally, he cherished the sisterly bond he shared with his sister, Shelley LeVasseur.
Mark was predeceased by his beloved parents, Betty and Harold Olson, whose memory he held dear throughout his life. Their legacy lived on through Mark and all those who loved him.
His loss resonates deeply with those who knew him, yet his spirit endures in the hearts of his family and friends. Mark Alan Olson’s life was one of meaningful work, enduring affection, and an unwavering commitment to the family he loved so dearly. He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who had the privilege to know him.
Cremation was requested a celebration of life will be held at a later date in Minnesota. Maraman-Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville was entrusted with the final arrangements.
