Lenny Ray Simmons, a cherished member of the Shepherdsville community, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, in his hometown of Louisville. Born on June 2, 1949, Mr. Simmons lived a life marked by dedication, service, and deep commitment to his family and his faith.

A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Lenny's service to his country was a foundational aspect of his character, reflecting a lifelong ethos of honor and duty. Following his military service, he pursued a fulfilling career as a carpenter, becoming a respected member of the Carpenters Union. His craftsmanship and work ethic left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege to work alongside him.

Mr. Simmons was also a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge and an active participant in the Clermont Baptist Church, where his faith and fellowship were sources of strength and joy. His involvement in these organizations illustrated his generosity of spirit and his desire to contribute positively to his community.

Lenny is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Simmons, who stood by his side through every chapter of his life. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love and companionship. He also leaves behind his cherished daughter, Stephanie Simmons; his brother, Gary Dean Simmons, and sister-in-law, Toni; beloved grandchildren Alexandria, Michaela, Calynn, and Liam Simmons; and two great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Simmons, as well as his siblings Robert Simmons, Sandra Alonso, Donald Simmons, Anthony Simmons, Rebecca Hall, Christopher Simmons, and Rita Simmons. The memories he shared with his departed family members remain a treasured part of his legacy.

Lenny Ray Simmons will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his country, and his community. His life serves as a lasting inspiration to all who knew him, embodying values of hard work, loyalty, and kindness. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to resonate through the hearts of those he loved and served.

His funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 18, 2026 at Maraman-Billings Funeral Home with burial to follow in Vine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday April 17, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
