Joyce Marie Kapso, a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away on September 10, 2025, at UofL Hospital, leaving behind a tapestry of memories that will be cherished for years to come. Born on September 26, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, Joyce was a shining light whose warmth and creativity touched everyone she met.
Joyce dedicated over 30 years of her life to her career as the Head Sector Inspector at the Post Office, where her commitment to excellence became a hallmark of her professional journey. Her spirit of dedication extended beyond her work; she was also a passionate and skilled artisan. She loved dancing, crafting pottery, sewing, painting, and upholstering, activities that brought her immense joy and allowed her to express her vibrant personality.
Her spiritual journey encompassed many aspects of her life, with gospel music serving as a soundtrack to her deep connection to faith and community. Joyce was truly a woman who embraced life "her way," always driven to explore new horizons and share her talents with others. Her presence radiated positivity, and her laughter was infectious.
Joyce is survived by her cherished son, Kerry Nelson (Rachel), and her beloved grandchildren, Barry, Hava, and Abigal Nelson, who were sources of immense pride and joy in her life. She leaves behind her siblings, Robert Kippes (Arleen), Richard Kippes (Nancy), and Ann Kippes, who share treasured memories of their time together. In addition, she is survived by her beloved niece, Cheryl Kilkelly, as well as cherished stepson Tony Kapso (Sandy) and stepdaughter Gloria Hubbard (James), all of whom will continue to carry her legacy forward.
Joyce's departure is accompanied by the profound sadness of her family and friends, especially as they remember her late husband, Stanley Kapso, who now reunites with her in eternity. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Kippes and Mary Hancock, and her brother, Russell Kippes, whose love and support she cherished throughout her life.
As we celebrate Joyce's life, we remember her for her boundless passion, creativity, and spirituality. Her remarkable journey on this earth has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. Joyce Marie Kapso will be deeply missed but never forgotten; her spirit will continue to illuminate the lives of those she loved.
