Joseph Wayne Parsley, Sr., born on August 16, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, at UofL Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a profound impact on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A dedicated retiree, Joseph spent many years as a plumber's assistant for Dauenhauer Plumbing. His hands-on expertise and resourcefulness were the hallmarks of his career; he possessed a remarkable ability to rebuild and restore both his old truck and various other projects that drew upon his ingenuity. Joseph was a proud member of the Fishing with Friends Tournament Group, where his passion for the outdoors truly flourished.
Nothing brought Joseph more joy than spending a day fishing with friends and family. He treasured the moments spent on the water, skillfully reeling in big Bass and Crappie from his boat. His love of the outdoors extended beyond fishing, as he also enjoyed hunting alongside his beloved dogs—Sugar, Roxy, Toby, AJ, and Daisy—whom he considered his greatest companions.
Family was at the heart of everything Joseph did. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Mary Mann Parsley, and their children: Tonya Neighbors (Wayne), Anna Cunningham (Terry Scott), and Joseph Parsley, Jr. (Shannon). Joseph was a proud father and shared a deep bond with his siblings, including Dolly Coomes, Diane Cornett (Billy), Patricia Offutt (Kenny), and Tony Parsley (Tracy). He also leaves behind a loving legacy in his grandchildren—Adam Mann, Christian Mann, Bethany Caldwell, Christina Minton, Nicole Jessie, Brianna Druck, Leah Parsley, Tyler Thurman, Lindsey Neighbors, Robbie Neighbors, Fealisha Cunningham, Austin Cunningham, Dakota Cunningham, Hallie Height and Cameron Cunningham —and great-grandchildren—Ayden Mann, Carter Caldwell, Taylor Caldwell, Nova Minton, Lucas Minton, Alice Jessie, Paislee Druck, Anthony Gadd, Marley Gadd, Austin Scott Cunningham, Brian Cunningham and Ellie Height.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, William Parsley and Dorothy Pilkerton, and siblings Gloria Greenwell, Rosie Rice, Lloyd "Slick" Parsley, and his infant brother Billy. The absence of these loved ones is felt deeply, yet their spirits live on through the family he built.
An active member of Faith Baptist Bible Church in Lebanon Junction, Joseph carried his faith close to his heart, guiding him through both the joys and challenges of life. His steadfastness and dedication enriched his relationships and endeared him to many.
