James "Jody" Millard Simmons, born on April 4, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, in Bardstown. He was a cherished father, brother, and grandfather, remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his passion for the great outdoors.
Jody found joy in hiking and exploring nature, appreciating the beauty and tranquility that the outdoors offered. His adventurous spirit and appreciation for life were evident to all who knew him. He lived his life with an enthusiasm that inspired those around him, always encouraging his loved ones to embrace their passions.
He is survived by his loving wife Danna Simmons, his beloved children, Christina Logsdon (Chris Combs) and Nicholas Simmons, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and fervor for life. James was also a proud grandfather to Sydney Combs and Tate Combs, whose lives he enriched with his warmth and guidance. His sister, Charlotte Woloch (Chuck), remains a source of strength and support for the family, sharing in their collective memories of James.
Jody was preceded in death by his parents Millard K. Simmons and Rose Schmidt a brother, Eddie Schmidt, whose memory remains dear to the hearts of those who loved them both.
The family invites friends to gather for visitation at Maraman Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, on September 19, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on September 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 11:00 AM, with burial taking place at Cedar Grove Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
Jody will be deeply missed, but his spirit will undoubtedly live on in the love he shared and the memories he created with his family.
