Henrietta Sizemore Colwell, born July 12, 1942, in Hazard, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on June 4, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a remarkable woman whose life was dedicated to hard work, patriotism, and heartfelt service to both her community and the brave veterans she so deeply respected.
Henrietta's professional journey saw her as a devoted assembly line worker for GE Appliance Park, where her dedication and commitment were exemplary until her retirement. Beyond her career, she was widely recognized for her spirited nature and her bold signature colored red lipstick and nails—which reflected her vibrant personality. Those who knew Henrietta fondly remember her as spunky and spirited, a woman who embraced life with passion and courage.
Her patriotism was a defining trait; she was profoundly supportive of our veterans and military personnel. Henrietta spent many hours volunteering and advocating for those who served, and she held the esteemed position of an officer in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Shepherdsville. Her unwavering dedication brought comfort and recognition to countless veterans in her community, embodying the values of honor and respect.
Henrietta’s family held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, French Colwell, and her daughter, Marilyn Colwell. She also mourned the loss of siblings Thelma Prince, Rella Gibson, Raliegh Gene, Ronnie, George, Ira, Shelby, William and Patrick Sizemore, as well as her beloved parents, Roy and Polly Sizemore. Their memories remain cherished in the hearts of all who knew them.
She is survived by her sons, Doug Colwell (Danelle) and Paul Colwell, who carry forward her legacy with pride. Also remaining are her siblings Stella Caudill, Barbara Colwell, Bill Sizemore, and Ruben R. Sizemore. Henrietta’s family extends to her grandson Brandon Colwell and his wife Christina, as well as her great-grandson Easton Jameson, who remind us of the enduring circle of love she fostered through the years.
The community is invited to honor and celebrate Henrietta’s life at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, located at 605 South Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY 40165.
