Gerleen Franklin Skidmore

Gerleen Franklin Skidmore (89) born February 11, 1934 to Clarence and Elsie Franklin . She passed away
peaceably at home in Henry County on September 7, 2023.

She was a native of Bullitt County and a longtime member of Bullitt Lick Baptist Church in Shepherdsville
where she enjoyed playing the piano for church service and singing in the choir. She provided daycare
service for many of the residents of Bullitt County. After her husband of 52 years, passed away she
moved to Henry County where she continued to worship and made many new friends at Calvary Baptist
Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Skidmore Sr. and her brother, Charlie Lewis
Franklin.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Bobby Franklin, three sisters, Doris McCray (Ed),
Marilyn Underwood, and Patsy Rogers (Fred). Gerleen will be sadly missed by her children, Jeanie
Roederer (Barry), Lewis “Spud” Skidmore (Carrol), Connie Sweat (Sam), James W. “J.O.” Skidmore, Jr.
(Judy), and John Skidmore (Lana), as well as being missed by her grandchildren, Edward Roederer
(Brittany), Jamie Roederer Whittaker (Ed), Kari Sweat Weiter (Patrick), Lauren Sweat Barton (Josh
Lehring), Holly Skidmore Spiegl, Kyle Skidmore (Katherine), Erin Skidmore Wade (Justin), and Alex
Skidmore Davis (Jon), along with 15 great grandchildren.

Details of Service:
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Friday, September 15, 2023, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home
in Shepherdsville with Rev. Tom Curry officiating. Burial will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Friday.
