George William "Bill" Hardy

George William "Bill" Hardy, a cherished member of the Shepherdsville community, passed away peacefully at his home on May 15, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on January 21, 1931, in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, Bill dedicated his life to his faith, family, and community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and unwavering commitment.

A proud Air Force veteran, Bill served his country with honor and integrity, qualities that defined his character throughout his life. He was not only a devoted member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville but also an active contributor to several organizations. His remarkable career included serving over 65 years as the CEO of Peoples Bank of Bullitt County, the Kentucky Bankers Association for over 50 years a founding member of the Banker's Bank of Kentucky and a founding member of the Community Bankers of Kentucky. His involvement with the American Cancer Society and the Fellowship of Concern  demonstrated his deep-rooted commitment to bettering the lives of others.

Bill was a man of profound faith, renowned for his loyalty and dedication to his family. He shared an unfailing commitment of 73 years with his beloved wife, Lillian "Sug" Hardy, who stood by his side through every challenge and triumph. Their enduring partnership is a testament to their shared values and love.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife Lillian "Sug" Hardy, his children: Bill Hardy, III and his wife Marilyn; Susan Hardy Hatchett; Mark Hardy and his wife LeAnn; Chris Hardy and his wife Kriste; and Lea Ann Hardy Anagnost and her husband Steven Anagnost, MD. In addition, Bill leaves behind a legacy of love through his 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who will carry forward his spirit and teachings.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents James Hilary Hardy, Sr. and Evelyn Sutton Hardy and his siblings Marilee Durbin, James "Bud" Hardy, Jr., and Samuel "Sam" E. Hardy, all of whom he held in great affection. His passing creates a void in the hearts of many, yet his spirit and influence will continue to resonate within the community he cherished so deeply.

Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville, located at 254 South Buckman Street, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. A funeral service celebrating his life will take place on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 12:30 PM, also at the church with Rev. Bill Crosby officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Brookland Cemetery, 4895 North Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, KY, at 2:00 PM.

Bill leaves behind a community that admired him, a family that adored him, and a legacy of love and dedication that will endure for generations to come.
