Gene "Wayne" Schaffer

Gene "Wayne" Schaffer born August 6, 1942 went home to be with the Lord October 31, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Marie Schaffer, his siblings, Lloyd (Sonny) Brahman, James (Jimmy) Schaffer, Jerry Schaffer, and Cynthia (Cindy) Wright.

Wayne loved Bluegrass and Country music. He felt great joy and looked forward to the holidays of Christmas and Thanksgiving with all the delicious food that was prepared. He admired his nieces and nephews and they fondly called him Uncle Wayne.

He is survived by his siblings Gloria (Deannie) Barr, William (Peewee) Schaffer, Beverly (Bev) Thornbury, Debra (Debbie) Ritze and Steve & Sandra (Fay) Sims and Donny & Linda Stump, Terry Lee Schaffer and Cathy,and sister-in-law Regina Schaffer. He has a host of niece’s and nephew’s an many great nieces and great nephews.

His funeral service will be at 1:30 pm on Wednesday at Maraman Billings Funeral Home with Nina Barr officiating. Burial will follow at the family plot at Pennsylvania Run Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
