Ellen "Jeannie" Hines Keller

October 19, 1960 — September 1, 2024

Shepherdsville

Ellen “Jeannie” Hines Keller, 63, of Shepherdsville passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 1, 2024, with her family by her side.

She was a Baptist by faith, having attended services at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Jeannie placed deep faith in her Bible, she found comfort in the word of God and the beauty of his creation. She took time to be still and reflect surrounded by nature and the blessing around her. Jeannie enjoyed being outdoors and being active, she liked swimming, horseback riding and riding motorcycles. Jeannie was an animal lover, she took in numerous cats and dogs, she fed the birds and welcomed nearly anything that appeared at her farm. She was a strong and independent woman, she put herself through school and worked hard to provide for her family. Jeannie was a devoted mother, she loved Dustin more than life itself, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for him. She was selfless and placed the needs of others above her own. She overcame so many struggles with kindness and grace. Jeannie was a loyal friend, she built lifelong friendships that spanned more than 50 years. She was “family” to so many that knew her, she will be dearly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents Betty Vinson and Lester Hines, along with many of her lifelong friends.

Jeannie is survived by her son Dustin Harris of Shepherdsville; brother James Hines (Betty) of Louisville; a collection of lifelong friends including Debbie Kountz and her family, additional family, and others she met along the way.

The family has entrusted Maraman Billings Funeral Home with cremation services and will be hosting a celebration of Jeannie’s life at a later date.
