Dorothy Lee Thornton

Dorothy Lee Thornton, 100 of Louisville passed away peacefully Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Signature Healthcare at Jefferson Place.

She was a native of Flint, Michigan, a retired stenographer with Jones and Dabney Paint Company, a former member of the Army Women’s Air Corps, a member of the Fern Creek Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 63 years

She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Wilson Thornton, a son Douglas Ray Thornton, her parents William Edgar Foust and Awilda Maude Foust, her siblings Elizabeth Clymer, Hazel Lovelace and Regina Earler and a grandson Ransom Thornton.

She is survived by her sons David Thornton (Terry) and Marshall Warren Thornton (Jean), her grandchildren Bryan Thornton (Amy), Krystal Blair (Charlie), Christopher Thornton (Sarah), John Thornton, Dana Cooper (Jason), Cambridge Thornton, Mariah Thornton,16 great grandchildren and a multitude of friends.

The family will be hosting a memorial service on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Kingdom Hall Fern Creek Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness, located at 8708 Bates Road, Louisville, KY 40228. For those who can’t be there in person, the program will be available via Zoom:
