 Dennis "Gregg" Smothers, a cherished member of both his family and community, passed away on December 30, 2025, at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born on December 26, 1956, in Danville, Kentucky, to the late Garland Smothers and the late Doris Barnes. Gregg lived a fulfilling life marked by dedication, compassion, and a vibrant personality.

Gregg had a commendable career with the United States Postal Service, where he served as a Postal Delivery worker, bringing joy and connection to the many lives he touched through his work. Known as a "good ol' boy," he had a warm presence and a friendly demeanor that endeared him to all. He proudly served his country in the Air Force, demonstrating his commitment to community and service.

Outside of his professional life, Gregg was passionate about several hobbies. His love for tropical fish and maintaining saltwater tanks showcased his nurturing side, while his musical talents shone through as he played the guitar, piano, and many other instruments. He found immense joy in the great outdoors, whether it was horseback riding or hunting, enjoying nature and all it had to offer.

Gregg leaves behind a loving family who will remember him fondly. He is survived by his wife, Miriam Smothers, who provided him with much love and support, his children, Samantha Waldron and her spouse Adam, and Mark Ballard, along with Mark's spouse, Wendy. He is also survived by his brothers, Derek Smothers, Barry Smothers, and Justin Smothers and their spouses, Patty, Linda and Ashley. Gregg was the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Ben Dutcher and Carson Ballard.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gregg's life during a visitation on January 7, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. that will be officiated by Brother Brian Campbell. Dennis will be laid to rest at Perryville Cemetery in Perryville, Kentucky at 3:00 PM that same day.

Dennis Gregg Smothers will be deeply missed, but his spirit and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
