Debra Ann Saylor

Debra Ann “Debbie” Saylor, 70, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, passed away on August 31, 2026.

Debbie shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Steve “Wendell” Saylor. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and the simple moments that meant the most.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Debbie is survived by her husband, Steve “Wendell” Saylor; her two sons, Jason (Shannon) Saylor and Adam (Amanda) Saylor; and four beloved grandchildren, Bryce, Cameron, Mallory, and Ryan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Judy Young (Doug), along with many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Annetta Thompson, and her sister, Brenda Clemens.

Debbie retired after a career as a Library Clerk with Jefferson County Public Schools, where she spent many years surrounded by books, students, and the school communities she served.

More than anything, Debbie treasured time spent with her family. Whether it was a family game night, a cookout, or simply being together, those moments brought her the greatest joy. If it involved her grandchildren, she wanted to be a part of it. They held an especially precious place in her heart. She also adored her faithful companion, Gracie Mae, who was never far from her side.

Debbie was truly one of a kind. She had a caring and loving heart, a kindness that came naturally, and a way of always giving people the benefit of the doubt. She loved deeply, cared genuinely, and could find the good in just about anyone. And those who knew her best also knew that beneath that kind heart was a stubborn streak a mile long—one of the many things that made Debbie unmistakably Debbie.

Her family will remember her not only for the life she lived, but for the countless ordinary moments she made special simply by being there. Her love, laughter, kindness, and devotion to her family will continue to live on through all those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks those wishing to honor Debbie’s memory to consider making a donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a fitting tribute to her many years spent as a library clerk and her connection to books and children.
