Arthur “Art” Louis Poteet, 81 of Louisville passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at University of Louisville Hospital.
He was a Baptist by faith, the former treasurer and member of Brooks Baptist Church. He is a former treasurer for Brooks Baptist Church. Arthur proudly served as a pilot for the United States Navy. He was a retired plant manager for Castlebury Foods. He had an appreciation for being outdoors and working in his yard. He was meticulous with his landscape. Arthur enjoyed lazy days spent fishing, and afternoons spent working on puzzles. Arthur had an artistic side, he loved to paint landscape scenes. Arthur was a loving husband and father; he adored being a grandfather. Spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a job he took very seriously. He delighted in their happiness and would do anything to make them smile. He was a man of character and pride with a strong foundation in his faith, a true role model for his children and grandchildren; through them, his legacy will continue.
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents Willard and Dena Poteet, along with his brother Kenneth B. Poteet.
He is survived by his loving wife Gloria Poteet; children Arthur Louis Cash (Alison), Anthony Lee Cash (Donna), Mark Louis Poteet (Tammy), Timothy J. Poteet, Paula S Poteet, and Robin Renee Hicks; grandchildren Ashley Emberton (Jeffrey), Eric Hicks (Jennifer), Ethan Poteet, Justin Cash, and Lindsey Poteet; his great grandchildren Lucas and EJ Hicks; sister-in-law Shirley Poteet; nephews Chris and Greg Poteet; along with additional family members and friends.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Brooks Baptist Church with Bro. Justin Musser and Bro. Eddie Maynard officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
Visitation will take place 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, and 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Brooks Baptist Church.
