Arnold Rountree

Arnold Rountree, age 81, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at UofL Hospital in Louisville, KY. Born on August 17, 1944, in Louisville, he lived a life characterized by hard work, loyalty, and dependability, traits that defined both his personal and professional endeavors.

Arnold dedicated a significant portion of his career to Globe Union, where he retired after many years of service on the production line, manufacturing batteries. His commitment to his work was unparalleled, and he approached every task with determination and a strong work ethic.

An enthusiastic socialite, Arnold was known for his ability to connect with others. He often frequented flea markets and auctions, where he loved to engage with people and share stories. His enthusiasm for classic cars and his participation in car shows reflected his vibrant personality. Evenings spent at Mike Linnig's Restaurant were cherished, as he enjoyed good meals while admiring beautiful classic cars, another passion that showcased his appreciation for craftsmanship and nostalgia.

Arnold is survived by his beloved wife, Helena Rountree, and his stepson Mark Colman II and his wife Lena, as well as stepdaughter April Berry. He also leaves behind his sister Barbara Whitney and her husband Bill, and grandson John Rountree, Jr., who will carry forward his cherished memories. He shared many good times with his longstanding friends Ralph Johnson, and Tony Goldsmith, with whom he bonded over their shared love of cars. Keith Whittinghill was a dear friend, much more like a son to Arnold, they shared many interests and enjoyed similar experiences. 

He was preceded in death by his son John Rountree, Sr., and his parents, Joseph Rountree and Fannie Mae Carter. Arnold was also preceded in death by his siblings Leon, Harold, Gerald, Dairl, Maeola, and Shelby.

A visitation will be held on September 10, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM at Maraman Billings Funeral Home located at 605 South Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY 40165.

Arnold Rountree's legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created, showcasing a life well-lived and well-loved.
