Marcos Gonzales Medrano

Marcos Gonzales Medrano of Brooks, KY. was unexpectedly called home to be
with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday June 16, 2024, at the age of 81.
Marcos was born in Anthony, New Mexico on April 25,1943, to Severo Rodriguez
Medrano and Maria del Refugio Gonzales. He began his career as a Quarter Horse
jockey in New Mexico and later became an accomplished Thoroughbred Trainer in the
early 1970’s. His career took him to many wonderful places, Louisiana, Oklahoma,
Arkansas, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky where he met his partner of 20 years Joyce Ann
Trammell. While enjoying and taking care of each other on Chattan Farm in Brooks, KY,
tending to the land and horses they boarded, he finally retired in 2019. He loved
spending time with his family, and cherished being Papa Marcos and Pop-Pop to (eight)
grandchildren and (four) great-grandchildren, he also enjoyed being outdoors hunting,
feeding and taking care of all the many animals on the farm, especially the deer and the
beautiful birds.
Marcos is preceded in death by his father Severo Rodriguez Medrano; mother
Maria del Refugio Gonzales; sister Paula Medrano; his partner of 20 years Joyce Ann
Trammell and Michelle’s fiancé Chris Giddens.
He is survived by his daughters Michelle Medrano Moseley; Rachael Medrano
Jordan (Billy) both from Louisiana; bonus daughter Rebekah Witherington of Kentucky;
brother Rosalio “Chalio” Medrano (Martha); sister Teresa Medrano; brother Miguel
Medrano (Frances); brother Ysabel “Chavelo” Medrano (Corina); brother Manuel
“Manny” Medrano (Sara); and sister Carmen Medrano Lujan (Roberto) all from New
Mexico and Texas. Grandchildren, (Michelle’s children) Erica Moseley Tilbury (Seth), DJ
Moseley, Randall Moseley, Hope Moseley (Matt); (Rachael’s children) Peyton Jordan
(Caroline), Brock Jordan; Austin Jordan and (Rebekah’s daughter) Julianna Spalding
(Nathan); Great Grandchildren William and Annalise Tilbury; Oliver Witherington and
Barrett Via; along with several nieces and nephews.
All funeral arrangements will be held at Maraman Billings Funeral Home 605 S.
Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, Kentucky 40165 on Saturday June 22, 2024.
Visitation starts at 9:30 AM, Celebration of Life service begins at 12:00 PM, with burial
ceremony to immediately follow at Hebron Cemetery. Services will be officiated by life-
long friend Jon K. Court.
