Pre-Need Services

When confronted with a sudden death, there are many social and financial details that could be taken care of in advance.  Making this type of arrangement is called "preplanning or preneed" services.  This type of planning can be a simple as writing down a person's wishes for the type of service he or she wants.  It can also be as detailed as listing the person's statistical data and securing the price of the services and goods necessary to accomplish the funeral in total.

Prearrangements are designed to help you protect your family and are governed by state law in Kentucky.  These type of services are usually funded through a life insurance policy specifically designed for this need or a deposit of funds in a bank trust.  Many times the elderly requiring skilled or specialized care will be advised to prearrange their services as allowed by various federal and state assistance programs.

When preplanning services for yourself or a loved one, take note of some simple questions that will help you in determing the type that is right for you.

  • What are your wishes and goals.
  • How much can you afford, either at present or in the future.
  • If guarantees are provided on merchandise and services.
  • Will your choices be valid if you move.
  • Have cemetery plots been provided.
  • If you needs will change in the future as your family grows and changes.
